About Camp Pendleton :

Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and serves as its prime amphibious training base. It is located on the coast of Southern California by Oceanside, San Clemente and Fallbrook. In 1942 the base was established for training purposes for the U.S. Marines. Camp Pendleton was declared a ?permanent installation? by the year 1944 and became home to the 1st Marine Division by 1946.
