About Imperial Beach :

Imperial Beach, CA is the most southwesterly city in the continental United States. Located a mere 3 miles northwest of downtown Tijuana, Mexico and only 14.1 miles south of downtown San Diego, Imperial Beach (IB) is part of the San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area in which over 5 million people call home. The U.S. Open Sand Castle tournament is held here every year drawing approx. 400,000 people to its location over a three day period. Due to the Mediterranean climate and the summer temperatures only making it into the upper 70’s, many of the homes are built without air conditioning.
