About Lemon Grove :

In 1869, Lemon Grove was settled by Robert Allison, its first known sheep rancher. From the 1860’s up to 1900 the area was best known for poultry and sheep ranching along with vegetable crops. In the early 1900’s lemon and orange growing became the area’s major industry which is where it acquired its name. By 1960, most of the easily developable land was gone due to suburbanization. There are currently 26,000 residents that occupy the established neighborhoods including single-family homes, condominiums, and apartment buildings.
